General Questions

  • Acupuncture is a healing practice rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that involves inserting very thin needles into specific points on the body. It’s used to restore balance, reduce pain, and promote overall well-being.

Acupuncture stimulates the nervous system and activates the body’s natural healing processes. It improves circulation, reduces inflammation, and helps regulate the flow of "qi" (vital energy) through the body's meridians.

  • Yes! When performed by a licensed, trained practitioner, acupuncture is very safe. We use sterile, single-use needles and follow strict hygiene protocols to ensure your comfort and safety.

  • Most people feel little to no pain. You might experience a mild tingling, heaviness, or warmth at the needle site. These are all normal signs of the body responding to treatment.

  • Yes, I do offer house calls for acupuncture treatments on a case-by-case basis, depending on your location and specific needs. This service is ideal for patients with limited mobility, postpartum recovery, or those who prefer the comfort of their own home.

  • I’m located at 119 W 23rd St. Suite 1001 (10th floor)

Appointments

  • Your initial session includes a detailed consultation, pulse and tongue diagnosis (a TCM technique), and a customized acupuncture treatment. Followed by a treatment plan tailored to your needs. Plan for about 120 minutes.

  • I recommend eating a light meal 1-2 hours beforehand, staying hydrated, and wearing loose, comfortable clothing. Avoid caffeine or alcohol before your appointment.

  • Most patients feel relaxed and refreshed. Some experience immediate relief, while others may notice results over several sessions. It's also normal to feel sleepy or energized.

  • Side effects are rare and mild. You may notice slight bruising or temporary soreness where needles were inserted. These usually subside within a day or two.

  • This depends on your condition and health goals. Acute issues may improve in a few sessions, while chronic conditions may require ongoing care. We’ll customize a plan for you.

This means I can spend more time with each patient, customize treatments without restriction, and provide the highest level of holistic care.

However, many insurance plans offer out-of-network acupuncture benefits, and I’m happy to provide you with a superbill that you can submit for potential reimbursement. I encourage you to check with your insurance provider to understand your specific benefits.

  • I value spacious, unrushed care and I also value mutual respect for time.

Appointments are reserved specifically for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, I kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice. This allows me to offer that time to another patient who may be waiting for care.

Cancellations or reschedules made with less than 24 hours’ notice, as well as missed appointments, are subject to full cost.

I understand that life happens and unexpected things come up. If an emergency arises, please reach out, I always aim to approach these situations with care and fairness.

Thank you for honoring this policy and the time set aside for your treatment. It helps support the rhythm of the practice and ensures I can continue offering thoughtful, present care to everyone I see.
